A Monk's Path (possible spoiler)
I'm trying to change my secondary profession to monk, and to do this I need to go into the desert and kill the Eater of Souls. The problem is, every time I try to get near him he disappears and hordes of Jade Scarabs appear. I haven't managed to kill all of the scarabs after several tries, so does know how I can complete this quest?

This belongs in the Tyrian Explorerers League forum, but it's an easy question anyway. You *doI have to kill all the Jade Scarabs to get the Eater of Souls to reappear. It's not too hard, a few times being ressed with all henchies along will get you through, or a build that solos Jades.

Get some AoE spells. Maybe a ranger with NR would help. Not too sure. They generally don't come out too fast. If you die, run back. They're usually slightly spread out after that. Agro a few at a time until all dead, and camp where the star is. More will keep coming out with about 6 at any given time.
Meteor shower, chaos storm, traps, anything like that is really good. The key is do lots of damage really fast. Empathy is not bad since those buggers have an insane rate of attack. |

You kill all the scarabs, the boss reappears, and you kill him. Simple as that.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I went back and tried one more time and killed all of the scarabs with my W/R. The way I did it was to approach to marker on the map and draw off a few of the scarabs at a time, as they only spawn from the ground when you're near to them.
